The meaning of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at U.S. Renal Care
Diversity invites us to consider the differences, similarities, and intersections in race, ethnicity, religion, age, gender, culture, cognitive ability, physical ability, life experiences, family situations sexual orientation, and more.
Equity is ensuring each individual has the tools and resources they need to be successful. This includes fair treatment, equal access, and advancement opportunities for our employees while striving to identify and eliminate barriers for our patients.
Inclusion means cultivating a culture and community where groups or individuals with different backgrounds feel a sense of belonging and are accepted, welcomed, and treated with respect.
Health Equity
Health inequities in kidney care refer to the disparities in the prevalence, diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes of people living with kidney disease among various populations. There are several contributing factors to these disparities including race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, geographic location, and access to healthcare.
Our commitment to health equity aligns with our mission of changing the lives of people living with kidney disease. This includes partnering with our communities and advocating for our patients to eliminate healthcare barriers. We are committed to providing equitable patient care for all. This work includes:
- Leading collaborative efforts with stakeholders across the kidney community to design a framework that addresses disparities across the kidney health journey
- Increasing the awareness of our caregivers by providing education on culturally appropriate, linguistically appropriate, and gender-affirming care
- Building partnerships in our communities and advocating for our patients

Employee Resources Groups
Employee resource groups (ERGs) are open to all U.S. Renal Care team members to connect, share experiences and challenges, and learn about diverse backgrounds and identities. These employee-led groups are founded by our team members, with a chartering process in place to ensure we are always meeting the needs of our diverse community.
