U.S. Renal Care is led by a seasoned senior management team with more than 150 years of collective experience in healthcare management and operations. 

 

J. Christopher Brengard

Chief Executive Officer 

Chris Brengard founded U.S. Renal Care in 2000 and has served as its President and CEO since inception. Prior to founding USRC, Mr. Brengard served as Vice President of Outpatient Operations for Select Medical Corporation from 1998 to 2000. In addition, in 1992, he was the founder of MediFit Rehabilitation Group in Houston Texas and served as its President and CEO until 1998. Prior to MediFit, he held various positions with Continental Medical Systems in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Stephen Pirri

President 

Stephen Pirri joined U.S. Renal Care in April of 2007. Mr. Pirri has more than 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry. Most recently, he served as general manager with Baxter Renal Division, working in the U.S. and internationally. Prior to that, he was senior vice president for Gambro Healthcare for five years, managing 175 dialysis clinics and 125 acute care programs in the southeastern U.S with annual revenues of more than $400 million. He was part of a major turnaround for the company that led to divestiture to DaVita. He has also held executive level positions with Urotherapies Inc., Haemonetics Corporation and Coram Healthcare.

Jack F. Egan

Executive Vice President, Finance

Jack Egan has been a senior manager of U.S. Renal Care since the company’s inception. Mr. Egan’s credentials include serving as a Sr. Vice President of Select Medical Corporation from 1997 to 2000. From 1991 to 1997, he was President/COO of RehabWorks, Inc., a subsidiary of Continental Medical Systems. From 1987 to 1991 Mr. Egan served as CFO/EVP of RehabWorks in Clearwater Florida.

James D. Shelton

Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer 

James Shelton joined U.S. Renal Care in May of 2007. Mr. Shelton has more than 20 years of experience in senior healthcare management for public and privately owned companies in a variety of healthcare sectors. Most recently, he served as chief financial officer of LifeCare Holdings, Inc. a long-term acute care hospital company that operated 21 hospitals in nine states with more than $360 million in annual revenues. Prior to that, he served as chief financial officer of several healthcare companies including PharMerica, Inc., Capstone Pharmacy Services, Inc., Allied Pharmacy Management, Inc. (a subsidiary of Cardinal Health, Inc.) and National Heritage, Inc.

Bradley Stoltz

Executive Vice President, Operations

Brad Stoltz joined US Renal Care in February 2017. Prior to joining US Renal Care, Brad spent seven years with Tenet Healthcare in a variety of strategy and operations roles. With Tenet, Brad launched MedPost, now one of the leading Urgent Care chains in the United States. Brad also led over a dozen outpatient transactions; managed Tenet’s widely-acclaimed Path to Health outreach and enrollment campaign; oversaw Tenet’s post-acute businesses; and helped launch Tenet’s ambulatory surgery, diagnostic imaging, and freestanding emergency department businesses. Brad also coordinated the operational due diligence and integration of Tenet’s acquisition of Vanguard Health Systems, a 29-hospital system. Prior to Tenet, Brad was an Engagement Manager in the Healthcare Payors and Providers Practice with McKinsey & Company. He also spent five years as an Officer in the US Army Medical Service Corps. Brad graduated from the US Military Academy at West Point and earned an MBA from The Harvard Business School.

Cameron Thompson

Executive Vice President, Operations

Cameron Thompson joined U.S. Renal Care in January 2017. Mr. Thompson has more than 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry. Prior to joining U.S. Renal Care, Mr. Thompson served most recently as the Executive Vice President, West Zone for Apria Healthcare. Prior to that, Mr. Thompson served as the Executive Vice President of Operations, Executive Vice President of Logistics and a number of progress senior leadership roles in the organization over his 20 year tenure with Apria Heatlhcare. Before joining Apria, Mr. Thompson served in upper management roles for two regional, privately-held home care companies. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin.

Thomas L. Weinberg

Executive Vice President, General Counsel

Thomas Weinberg joined U.S. Renal Care in September 2006. Prior to joining U.S. Renal Care, Mr. Weinberg served as Vice President, Public Policy, with DaVita Inc., in Washington, D.C., and Assistant General Counsel for DaVita in Tacoma, Washington. From 1990 to 1998, Mr. Weinberg practiced law in Seattle with the law firms of Bennett Bigelow & Leedom and Foster Pepper & Shefelman.

Larry Jones

President, IDS

Mr. Jones has over 25 years of managerial and operational health care experience. In 2007, following the merger with Ambulatory Services of America, Mr. Jones assumed the role of President of the Innovative Dialysis Systems (IDS) business unit. As President, he had overall responsibilities for directing the company’s dialysis business in 13 states and Territory of Guam and provided dialysis care to over 6,000 patients. He joined IDS, Inc. in 1993 as Vice President of Operations and was later promoted to Chief Operating Officer. He was responsible for all aspects of overall operations, strategic planning and physician relationships. He began his dialysis experience with the Renal Division of Baxter Healthcare in various sales management positions. Mr. Jones holds Bachelor Degrees in Business Management and Marketing from Kent State University and a Master of Business Administration from the Graziadio School of Business and Management at Pepperdine University.

David Adams

Senior Vice President, Managed Care

David Adams joined U.S. Renal Care in April 2016. Prior to joining U.S. Renal Care, Mr. Adams served as Vice President, National Ancillary Contracting with Humana, Inc. Previously, he held leadership roles related to provider network, risk contracting, specialty benefits management and medical trend mitigation with EmblemHealth and WellCare Health Plans, Inc. Additionally, Mr. Adams worked in pharmacy benefits management with First Health Services Corporation (a subsidiary of First Health Group, Inc., then Coventry Health Care, Inc.), designing and implementing Preferred Drug List programs on behalf of state Medicaid clients. He holds a Doctor of Pharmacy from Virginia Commonwealth University’s Medical College of Virginia, as well as a MBA with a concentration in Health Care Management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

John A. Dickenson

Senior Vice President, Business Development

John joined U.S. Renal Care in November of 2012. John has more than 15 years of healthcare transactional advisory experience to a diverse mix of clients located in the United States as well as overseas. Prior to joining the Company, John served as Corporate Vice-President of Ambulatory Growth for Dignity Health (formerly Catholic Healthcare West), one of the largest not-for-profit healthcare systems in the United States with over $13 billion in total assets. During his tenure with Dignity Health, John’s specific focus was on joint-venture transactions with hospitals, physicians, and outpatient initiatives. John also worked for over six years for a boutique, transactional advisory firm, where he provided consultative services to a wide selection of the firm’s clients.

David Eldridge

Senior Vice President of Finance

David Eldridge joined U.S. Renal Care in May of 2006. Mr. Eldridge has more than 20 years of accounting and finance experience in various industries including healthcare, technology and public accounting. Prior to joining US Renal Care, Mr. Eldridge was the Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis for Maxim Integrated Products, a publicly traded semiconductor manufacturer. Mr. Eldridge is a CPA as well as a Chartered Accountant in Australia.

Jack N. Harrington

Senior Vice President, Real Estate & Development

Jack Harrington, a founding partner of U.S. Renal Care, serves as Sr. Vice President of Real Estate Development. Mr. Harrington has over 20 years of operational health care and development experience. Prior to USRC, from 1990 to 2000, Jack was the Chief Operating Officer of NEA Clinic of Jonesboro Arkansas, a large multi-specialty medical clinic with 26 specialties and more than 90 physicians. From 1984 to 1990 Mr. Harrington was Vice President of United Federal S&L of Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Ken Leidner

Senior Vice President, Physician Services

Ken Leidner joined US Renal Care in July 2015 as the SVP Physician Services, leading joint strategic planning for USR and affiliated physicians. Ken brings over 20 years of multi-dimensional experience across mergers & acquisitions, business development, strategic planning and consulting. From 2010 to 2014, Ken served as National Vice President for Hospital Partnerships at DaVita Healthcare Partners, structuring partnerships with hospitals and healthcare systems. From 2004 to 2010, he served as Director of Corporate Development at DaVita Healthcare Partners, completing over 40 joint ventures with physician partners and over 20 acquisitions. Prior to his tenure at DaVita, Ken led strategic planning at 24/7 Media, an Internet advertising company, and previously helped develop the initial interactive strategy for American Express. Throughout his career, Ken has also consulted to numerous early stage businesses, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of an entertainment company in Orlando, FL.

Lauren McDowell

Senior Vice President, Human Resources

Lauren McDowell joined U.S. Renal Care in October of 2006. Ms. McDowell has more than 20 years comprehensive Human Resource experience with both national and multinational companies in the private sector as well as state government. Prior to coming to U. S. Renal Care she served as Director of Human Resources within the hospitality and manufacturing industries. She is trainer certified by nationally known Franklin Covey and Novations, and her expertise includes employee relations, talent and performance management, training and benefits.

Brett Kirstein

Senior Vice President, Chief Revenue Officer

Brett Kirstein joined US Renal Care in January, 2017. Prior to joining USRC, Brett was a Managing Director of WayPoint Healthcare Advisors providing advisory services to clients across the country related to optimizing their revenue cycle, initiating Accountable Care Organizations, and establishing population health strategies, infrastructure, and technology support. In 2003, he founded and led Revenue Cycle Solutions, a firm that served a variety of clients including large academic health systems, community hospitals, public and regional long term care providers, and physician groups. He started his career at Arthur Andersen and became a Partner leading the revenue cycle practice for the Southwest Region.

Debbie Mitchell-Taylor

Senior Vice President, Operations

Debbie Mitchell-Taylor received her nursing degree in 1984. She has worked in the dialysis industry since 1989 with experience in acute and chronic dialysis as well as the home modalities. Debbie earned her Master’s Degree in Nursing-Health Systems Management from Vanderbilt University in 2004. She joined the US Renal Care team in 2015 after the merge with DSI Renal as Senior Vice President, Operations for the Western Division.

Tim Thomasson

Senior Vice President, Information Technology, Chief Information Officer

Tim Thomasson joined U.S. Renal Care in February of 2010. Mr. Thomasson has 20 years of experience in the healthcare information technology field. Most recently, he served as Chief Information Officer for Medical Edge Healthcare, a multi-disciplinary medical practice management group. Prior to that, he was Vice President of Information Technology at Magella Healthcare, a national group of Neonatal and Maternal Fetal Medicine providers. He has also held senior IT management positions with Pediatrix Medical Group and the Metroplex Emergency Physicians group.

Charla Williams

Senior Vice President, Revenue Cycle Management

Before joining U.S. Renal Care in March of 2006, Charla Williams was the Managing Partner of ProMedX Billing Solutions, LLC, a multi speciality billing company. Prior to ProMedX, Ms. Williams held the following positions: V.P. of Operations at Medical Business Management, an Orthopaedic practice management company; V.P. of Operations for Physician Support Systems, the physician division of National Data Corporation; and V.P. of Operations for Advacare, a public traded physician billing company. Ms. Williams brings over 20 years experience in billing and reimbursement to U.S. Renal Care.
